Position Overview


As the Clinical Education Supervisor within our Clinical Education division, you will play a vital role in a cooperative, interdisciplinary team focused on delivering integrated services and programs.

Your responsibilities will include upholding professional and ethical nursing standards while providing expertise in assessment, practice, education, and training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver educational and training sessions to nursing staff and other disciplines through various methods (classroom, tutorials, consultations, e-learning) across all clinical areas.
  • Work alongside colleagues and the Clinical Management Team to design, implement, and assess educational programs aimed at enhancing professional services for staff, clients, and families.
  • Create and present educational initiatives to both internal and external stakeholders. Engage with external partners, including universities and colleges, to promote and enhance clinical education programs.
  • Exhibit advanced knowledge regarding DSM classification, psychiatric disorders, addiction, family systems, evidence-based treatments, and community resources in relation to consultations and clinical instruction.
  • Mentor and coach clinical staff in the application of evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and trauma-informed care.
  • Oversee Clinical Coordinators, providing support in recruitment, orientation, and on-site training.
  • Develop and maintain unit activity boards, schedules, and guidelines.
  • Assess and direct staff performance to ensure effective clinical care and programming.
  • Assist team members and leadership in identifying educational needs, providing feedback, and participating in performance improvement initiatives.
  • Encourage staff engagement on relevant clinical matters to manage services effectively.
  • Stay current in your field by participating in workshops, seminars, and courses.
  • Conduct literature reviews and communicate research findings related to mental health and addiction.
  • Engage in continuous quality improvement activities and present professional development suggestions to leadership.
  • Collaborate with Program Managers to meet accreditation standards.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in relevant Social Sciences, Nursing, or a related health discipline.
  • Valid registration with the appropriate governing body in Ontario that permits the performance of psychotherapy.
  • Mental Health Nursing certification preferred for nursing candidates.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mental health and addiction.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a leadership role.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Mental Health Act and Health Care Consent Act.
  • Proficient in conducting comprehensive mental health assessments and developing crisis and discharge plans.
  • Strong coaching, mentoring, presentation, and leadership abilities.
  • Adaptability to changing priorities and expectations.
  • Proven experience in developing and sustaining partnerships.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; proficiency in French is an asset.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and comfort with various electronic technologies.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and integration of research into practice.
  • Strong problem-solving and facilitation skills.
  • Understanding of Lean principles and quality improvement methodologies.
