Your Role:
The Systems Administrator – L1 will assist in server maintenance, application deployments, and IT Operations support tool implementation. This role requires close collaboration with the IT Operations team to enhance, maintain, and support highly available systems and applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve systems-related issues as they arise
- Monitor and review dashboards, logs, and critical alerts to ensure system issues are addressed promptly
- Assist in provisioning virtual servers, including installation, configuration, and maintenance of operating systems
- Provide ongoing operational support and work closely with team members on issue resolution
- Manage and administer incident, problem, and service request queues
- Develop and maintain system use guides, run books, and other documentation as needed
Requirements:
- 1-3 years of experience as a Systems Administrator, preferably in a software development environment
- In-depth experience installing, configuring, and administering Linux operating systems
- Experience with OpenSource software and/or service management tools and applications
- Previous experience working in an environment with formally structured IT Operational processes
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Ruby, Perl, and/or Bash
- Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships
- Ability to work in a team environment and independently as needed
- Ability to adapt to change and work well under pressure
- Ability to multitask and manage numerous projects
- Ability to take on internal operational initiatives as a prime or lead
- Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, problem-solving, and documentation skills
- Experience running and supporting a global 24x7 internet-based service or product is considered an asset
- Solid understanding of networking/firewall concepts and their role within an application development environment is considered an asset
- Service management certifications such as ITIL is considered an asset
Working Conditions:
Must be available after hours and/or weekends for emergency-related work, service-impacting incident resolution, or maintenance that is required during maintenance windows (outside of regular business hours)
Compensation:
Global Relay advertises the pay range for this role in accordance with the pay transparency laws of the province of British Columbia. In addition to the annual base salary (range listed below), compensation for this role also includes a corporate bonus, extended health benefits, and RRSP Matching, and (for applicable Sales roles) an enticing commission structure.
British Columbia - Base Salary Range: $55,000—$70,000 CAD
