Job Summary

As a collaborative team member, the Educational Assistant supports the teacher in the delivery of daily programs and care of students with special needs. The Educational Assistant assists in carrying out all Board-approved programs, including occupational therapy, physiotherapy, academic, and behavioral programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the implementation of Board-approved programs for students with special needs
  • Support the teacher in the delivery of daily programs and care of students
  • Collaborate with the teaching team to develop and implement individualized education plans
  • Provide support and assistance to students with special needs in a variety of settings
  • Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and other staff members to ensure a smooth and supportive learning environment

Qualifications and Experience

  • Community College Educational Support Diploma or related field of study
  • A minimum of one (1) year demonstrated successful experience supporting individuals with special needs
  • Proven ability to work as a team member, with high sensitivity and diplomacy
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and cope with stressful situations
  • Capacity to engage members of diverse communities and skilled in a variety of consultation techniques, protocols, and strategies
