Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team at Back In Motion. As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to our residents in a Long-Term Care Home in Owen Sound, ON.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify equipment needs and develop personalized plans to meet those needs.
  • Implement, monitor, and modify equipment to achieve resident goals in areas such as seating and positioning, equipment use and safety, and strategies to improve function.
  • Provide education and training to staff on adaptive equipment and ergonomic set-up to prevent staff injuries.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care delivery.

Requirements

  • Registration in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario.
  • Certification as an Assistive Devices Program (ADP) Authorizer.
  • Completion of a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) upon hire.
  • Up-to-date vaccinations, including influenza vaccine (or commitment to take anti-viral medications in case of an outbreak), MMR, DTaP, varicella, and TB skin test.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in evidence-based musculoskeletal and neurological practice, with a focus on functional outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and clinical reasoning skills.
  • Caring and compassionate approach in all interactions with residents and families.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience delivering the Assistive Devices Program for the geriatric population in an integrated care setting, preferably in a Long-Term Care Home.
  • Expertise in fitting and prescription of adaptive equipment, wheelchairs and scooters, seating and positioning aids, and splints and braces.
