Primary Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with diverse teams to pinpoint areas for process enhancement and automation within manufacturing workflows.
- Design, implement, and oversee Lean initiatives, including methodologies such as 5S, Value Stream Mapping, Kanban, and Kaizen events.
- Create and deploy automation solutions aimed at refining manufacturing processes, decreasing manual labor, and increasing overall productivity.
- Analyze production data in collaboration with cross-functional teams to identify bottlenecks and propose solutions to maximize production efficiency.
- Partner with integrators to assess, select, and integrate automation technologies and equipment.
- Develop and uphold standard operating procedures (SOPs) to guarantee consistent and reliable manufacturing practices.
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of Bills of Material to ensure accurate execution of Supply Chain and Manufacturing tasks.
- Provide training and support to production teams on Lean principles and automation technologies.
- Conduct root cause analyses and implement corrective measures for manufacturing challenges.
- Actively engage in the daily tiered accountability process.
- Investigate specific issues and contribute to corrective actions aimed at optimizing costs, processes, and overall efficiencies.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers during the design phase, advocating for Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles during design evaluations.
- Propel continuous improvement initiatives that positively influence quality, cost, and manufacturability through cost-benefit analyses and optimal manufacturing readiness assessments.
- Participate in the selection of materials, manufacturing techniques, and the enhancement of production tools.
- Assist Operations with testing procedures based on design specifications, which may include programming of testing equipment.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) initiatives as necessary.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- P. Eng. designation or enrollment in the P. Eng. in EIT program is considered advantageous.
- Certified Lean Expert with proven experience in Lean implementation.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer, focusing on Lean Manufacturing and/or Automation.
- Proficient in automation technologies, including robotics, PLCs, CNC machinery, and industrial control systems.
- Skilled in CAD software for designing and implementing automation solutions and factory layouts.
- Solid understanding of Lean tools and techniques, such as 5S, Value Stream Mapping, and Kaizen.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to present business cases for capital expenditures on equipment.
- Capable of delivering training as a Subject Matter Expert.
- Methodical approach to configuration management concerning BOM creation and maintenance.
- Team-oriented, able to collaborate effectively with Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing teams to facilitate decision-making.
- Strong project management skills with a track record of driving projects to successful completion, maintaining accountability for costs and timelines.
- Proficient in Power BI, Excel, and PowerPoint for data analysis and presentations.
- Committed to staying informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in Lean manufacturing and automation.
- Knowledgeable about the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
