Research Assistant

The University of British Columbia (UBC) is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant to join the Digital Emergency Medicine research team in the Department of Emergency Medicine. The successful candidate will work closely with the research team to support digital health projects focused on technology-enabled innovations in health practice and education contexts, multi-channel community engagement to support health education and patient-centered care, and digital health innovation and collaborative partnerships.
The Research Assistant will be responsible for assisting in planning research project activities, conducting literature searches, reviewing and synthesizing literature, and assisting with data collection and analysis. The incumbent will also support the preparation of reports, publications, and presentations, and assist in the development of funding proposals.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in planning research project activities, including organizing and documenting meetings, and communicating with diverse project partners.
- Conduct literature searches and reviews, and assist with the synthesis of literature.
- Assist with data collection, including co-facilitating focus groups, conducting interviews, and administering surveys.
- Support the preparation of reports, publications, and presentations.
- Assist in the development of funding proposals, including investigating applicable funding opportunities, searching and compiling submission criteria, completing funding application forms and documents, and drafting components of letters of intent and full proposals.
The successful candidate will have a high school graduation, some additional training in a related field, and a minimum of two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The ideal candidate will have knowledge and understanding of basic social science research methods, experience with BC health professional organizations, Indigenous health, community development, cross-cultural projects, and liaising and engaging with external organizations. Preference will be given to candidates with some grant writing experience and experience working in a not-for-profit environment.
