About The Role: We are seeking a dedicated Veterinarian (DVM) who exemplifies a high standard of veterinary care with a compassionate approach towards patients. The DVM will primarily focus on clinical responsibilities, integrating clinical expertise with emotional intelligence and a servant leadership mindset to foster excellence in veterinary practice.

Responsibilities:

  • Approaching, handling, and treating animals with kindness and patience, ensuring a safe and secure environment for them.
  • Cultivating positive relationships with clients by maintaining composure, demonstrating genuine care, and providing exceptional customer service.
  • Conducting examinations, diagnosing, and treating diseases or abnormal conditions in animals.
  • Prescribing and administering medications and vaccines for animals.
  • Collecting cell and tissue samples and performing diagnostic tests.
  • Advocating for preventive care to address the wellness needs of pets.
  • Treating sick or injured animals through medication, setting bones, dressing wounds, or performing surgical procedures.
  • Maintaining comprehensive medical records with the support of the practice's systems.
  • Vaccinating animals to prevent and manage diseases.
  • Overseeing the overall operation of the animal hospital, adhering to established billing practices.
  • Committing to high standards of veterinary practice while upholding professional ethics.
  • Performing routine, emergency, and post-mortem examinations.
  • Promptly notifying the practice of any complaints received from regulatory bodies.
  • Effectively communicating diagnoses and treatment plans to both the practice team and clients.
  • Providing a range of veterinary services, including obstetrics, dentistry, and euthanasia.
  • Engaging in respectful communication with team members and potentially supervising animal health technologists and care staff.
  • May involve conducting veterinary research in areas such as animal nutrition and disease prevention.
  • May enforce regulations related to disease control and food production.

Requirements:

  • A 4-5 year university degree in veterinary medicine or equivalent, including any necessary pre-veterinary studies.
  • Completion of national certification examinations or equivalent is required.
  • A provincial license to practice in Ontario or the ability to obtain one.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience working with small animals in a veterinary environment.
