Job Title: Research Associate, Forest Ecology

We are seeking a highly motivated and science-minded individual to join our research team at the Centre for Boreal Research (CBR) at NAIT. The successful candidate will lead a subset of applied research projects focused on forest reclamation and reforestation, working closely with industry partners to develop strategies and tools for sustainable forest ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct applied research projects using literature reviews, field experiments, and data analysis.
  • Manage and respond to project-related emails and coordinate with centre staff, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Supervise summer research assistants and plan and coordinate project activities.
  • Prepare technical reports, proposals, and research extension products.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in ecology with a focus on native plant communities.
  • At least 5 years of related experience, with post-doctoral experience considered an asset.
  • Experience in experimental design and execution, with training and use of R software.
  • Class 5 license with a clean driver's abstract.
Working Conditions:

The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced and busy team setting, with a mix of field work, lab, and desk-based work. The position requires extensive outdoor work on uneven terrain and in remote locations, with a level of physical capacity (fitness) to safely work in the field.
