Job SummaryWe are seeking a Technical Buyer to collaborate with our global marketing, engineering, production, quality, supply chain, and other teams to identify, research, evaluate, and negotiate commercial terms with suppliers. The successful candidate will focus on new product development in integrated power and power conversion products.
Key Responsibilities- Lead procurement efforts through design, prototyping, commercialization/industrialization, and production maturity;
- Develop technical requirement specifications for procured materials and services that best support the value and cost targets;
- Identify, research, evaluate, and negotiate commercial terms with suppliers to choose the best materials, products, or services to support business objectives;
- Coordinate RFI/RFP/RFQ processes with current and prospective suppliers;
- Develop and manage purchasing strategy, for example, with electronics subcontractors and electronic manufacturing services suppliers;
- Manage procurement actions in accordance with development project schedule and budget;
- Contribute to supplier performance and qualification reviews and audits;
- Proactive identification and resolution or escalation of risks in procurement strategy;
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and recommend and implement changes to processes when appropriate;
- Work with internal stakeholders to develop and enhance reporting and analytical tools;
- Support the business with ad hoc reporting and projects as required;
- A minimum of seven (7) years of relevant professional work experience in a manufacturing environment with integrated power and power conversion products in various stages of prototyping, commercialization, and production;
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering, typically mechanical, industrial, electrical, or manufacturing a plus;
- Certification in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and other problem-solving techniques a plus;
- Education or certification in Supply Chain Management (e.g. ASCM (APICS) CSCP/CPIM, ISM CPSM, Supply Chain Canada SCMP, MSCM, etc.) or Business Administration a plus;
- Experience procuring from electronics manufacturers and subcontractors, and electronic manufacturing services companies, including for semiconductors, printed circuit boards and assemblies, and integrated system-level assemblies;
- Experience reading and understanding electrical and mechanical drawings/prints;
- Experience working in engineer-to-order, configure-to-order, or custom product manufacturing;
- Experience with ISO9001/ISO14001 Environmental and Quality Management Systems;
- An appreciation and passion for mitigating the environmental impacts of manufacturing (products, processes, packaging, recycling, energy conservation, etc.);
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with a drive for problem-solving;
- Strong collaborator who can engage and communicate effectively with multiple and diverse partners;
- Ability to engage and lead discussions in meetings/team settings;
- Ability to balance multiple high-priority tasks and projects concurrently through highly developed organizational and decision-making skills;
- Solutions-focused and has a passion for achieving results;
- Ability to work autonomously with limited supervision;
- This role is in an office environment, with regular visits to the manufacturing environment;
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship;
- Ability to travel to international destinations; must possess and maintain a valid passport for international travel.
