Job Summary

The Near North District School Board is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Supportive Educational Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our special education program, you will play a vital role in supporting students with diverse needs, including autism, behavioral exceptionalities, physical, and developmental disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with students, teachers, and support staff to develop and implement individualized support plans.
  • Provide one-on-one support to students with complex needs, including toileting, communication, and sensory support.
  • Assist with the implementation of alternative program goals, therapy goals, and sensory breaks.
  • Support students in transition and implement programming in consultation with classroom teachers, central behavioral support teams, and respective therapists.
  • Collaborate with the school-based team to ensure a comprehensive and inclusive learning environment.
Requirements
  • Two-year post-secondary certificate or diploma in the social services field.
  • Experience working with students with diverse exceptionalities, including medically complex, autism, developmental disabilities, and physical disabilities.
  • Broad knowledge of support strategies, including ABA, Behavior Management Systems, CPS, and Augmentative Communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of a school-based team.
