Overview
The Credit Solutions Analyst plays a vital role in enhancing the profitability and quality of the Bank's Technology and Innovation Banking portfolio. This position involves a variety of responsibilities including comprehensive due diligence, risk assessment, and the presentation of intricate deals in collaboration with the coverage team, alongside continuous portfolio oversight and management.
Key Responsibilities
The Analyst will be engaged in:
- Portfolio Development: Actively contributing to the growth of the Technology and Innovation Banking sector by:
- Conducting timely analysis, structuring, and presenting credit and financial solutions proposals;
- Offering prompt and sound recommendations for credit proposal evaluations;
- Communicating effectively with the coverage team to ensure clarity in decision rationales;
- Coordinating with the Business Service Centre for documentation and service activities.
- Authorization Management: Ensuring precise communication of authorization terms and supervising their implementation by:
- Reviewing all written authorizations for accuracy and completeness;
- Following up on authorization acceptance and addressing any issues promptly;
- Ensuring the adequacy and quality of loan documentation and security;
- Coordinating necessary changes with the coverage team prior to fund disbursement.
- Portfolio Quality Assurance: Maintaining the quality of the assigned credit portfolio through diligent control and adherence to specific conditions by:
- Advising management of any emerging credit weaknesses based on ongoing analysis;
- Complying with regulatory and internal Bank policies;
- Upholding the Bank's Anti-Money Laundering program and reporting any unusual activities.
- Risk Management: Understanding the Bank's risk appetite and culture in daily operations and decision-making.
- Operational Efficiency: Striving for effective operations in alignment with Scotiabank's values and ensuring robust business controls.
- Work Environment: Fostering a high-performance and inclusive workplace.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:
- A degree in business, finance, economics, technology, or related fields.
- Progress towards a professional designation (e.g., CPA, CFA, or CBV) or an MBA is advantageous.
- A passion for engaging with entrepreneurs and investors in the innovation sector.
- A foundational understanding of financial and risk analysis techniques.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills in both French and English.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent relationship-building and teamwork capabilities.
