Position Overview

The University of Lethbridge is inviting applications for several Sessional Lecturer roles within the Professional Semester I (PSI) and Professional Semester III (PSIII) segments of our undergraduate teacher education curriculum.

The responsibilities in PSI and PSIII encompass the oversight of student teachers during their practical training. Given that our placements extend across various regions, candidates should be willing to travel throughout Southern Alberta. Reimbursement for travel expenses incurred during supervisory duties will be provided.

Depending on individual interests, sessional lecturers may be assigned to teach up to three courses within a designated contract period.

We welcome applications from all qualified candidates, including retired educators and school administrators. We are particularly interested in individuals with specialized knowledge in school curriculum areas. Additionally, applicants with expertise in core teaching domains such as Educational Psychology, Special/Inclusive Education, and Instructional Technology are strongly encouraged to submit their applications.

Essential Qualifications Include:
  • A Bachelor of Education degree along with Professional Teaching Certification is mandatory.
  • A keen interest in the professional training and development of educators.
  • Outstanding interpersonal abilities to collaborate effectively with colleagues and student teachers.
  • Proficiency in curriculum development, as well as contemporary theories and practices relevant to the areas of expertise.
  • Prior experience in a university field experience program as a teacher associate or mentor is advantageous.
Each applicant is requested to specify the curricular areas and grade levels where they possess the most experience or qualifications, and to detail any distinctive educational experiences (e.g., engagement with Indigenous communities, alternative education initiatives, leadership roles, technology integration, etc.) that could contribute value to the program.
