At The Shaw Group Limited, we are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Operator to join our team at our Nova Scotia, Hardwood Lands location. As an Assistant Operator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our facility, maintaining high-quality products, and promoting a safe work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carrying out facility maintenance requirements as directed from the plant operator.
  • Conducting quality control testing on products to ensure they meet our high standards.
  • Communicating effectively with incoming and outgoing crews on plant operation, ensuring seamless transitions and minimizing downtime.
  • Reporting any issues regarding quality, safety, maintenance, and production to the plant operator in a timely manner.
  • Maintaining accurate records of production, logbooks, and verbal communication to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Ensuring a clean and organized work environment, adhering to our "everything has a place and everything in its place" policy.
  • Filling in as Plant Operator or Loader Operator as required, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
  • Operating front-end loaders safely and efficiently, with a focus on minimizing waste and maximizing productivity.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Commitment to a safe work culture and a strong understanding of safety protocols.
  • Self-motivation, with the ability to work independently and provide leadership when required.
  • Experience in operating manufacturing process equipment and a mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to work shifts, including night shifts, and be available for periodic overtime.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in the safe and efficient operation of a front-end loader is considered an asset.
