Job Overview:

As a vital member of the Flood Risk Management Team, you will play a crucial role in assisting the Council in its capacity as the Lead Local Flood Authority. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the management of flood risks within the community.

Your responsibilities will include providing expert advice and guidance to ensure compliance with statutory obligations while promoting sustainability and regeneration within the district. You will work collaboratively with various stakeholders to enhance flood resilience and address the challenges posed by climate change.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assess and provide recommendations on planning applications related to surface water management, adhering to local and national policies.
  2. Deliver specialized technical input for both statutory and non-statutory planning consultations concerning flood risk management.
  3. Offer expert guidance to the Local Planning Authority and partner organizations in the development and maintenance of the Council's Strategic Flood Risk Assessment.
  4. Participate in Council Committees and meetings, providing technical insights and recommendations.
  5. Contribute to the regulation and enforcement of activities affecting ordinary watercourses.

The ideal candidate will possess recent experience in flood risk management and development control, demonstrating strong organizational and communication skills. A solid understanding of flood risk principles, land drainage systems, and the functions of the Lead Local Flood Authority is essential. A degree in civil engineering or a related field is required.
