Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor Department Performance: Track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of our transportation operations, including on-time delivery rates, fuel efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
  • Plan and Organize Daily Operations: Develop and implement daily transportation plans, ensuring that all shipments are delivered on time and in good condition.
  • Plan for Changes to Schedules and Policies: Anticipate and prepare for changes to schedules and policies, ensuring that our operations are adaptable and responsive to changing circumstances.
  • Prepare Reports for Senior Management: Provide regular reports to senior management on transportation operations, including metrics on performance, costs, and customer satisfaction.
  • Recruit and Supervise Staff: Recruit, train, and supervise a team of transportation professionals, ensuring that they have the skills and knowledge needed to perform their jobs effectively.
  • Manage Finances or Budget: Oversee the financial aspects of transportation operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
  • Arrange for Shipping Documentation and Tracking: Ensure that all shipping documentation is accurate and complete, and that goods are tracked and traced throughout the transportation process.
  • Ensure Transport Compliance with Regulations: Ensure that our transportation operations comply with all relevant regulations, including those related to safety, security, and environmental sustainability.
  • Establish and Implement Policies and Standards: Develop and implement policies and standards for the transportation and storage of goods, ensuring that they are consistent with company policies and industry best practices.
  • Negotiate for Services and Preferential Rates: Negotiate with carriers and other service providers to secure the best possible rates and services for our transportation operations.
  • Oversee Scheduling and Dispatching: Oversee the scheduling and dispatching of vehicles and goods, ensuring that they are delivered on time and in good condition.
  • Oversee Setting of Transportation Service Rates and Monitor Revenue: Oversee the setting of transportation service rates and monitor revenue, ensuring that our operations are profitable and sustainable.
Requirements
  • 3-4 Years of Experience: A minimum of 3-4 years of experience in transportation operations, logistics, or a related field.
  • Education: A secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Work Setting: Experience working in a shipping company, trucking company, warehouse, or general office environment.
  • Area of Work Experience: Fleet management experience is an asset.
  • Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and perform physical tasks as required.
