Overview
Velocity Truck Centres Canada is seeking a Senior Network / Cyber Engineer to enhance our Edmonton West branch. This role is pivotal in contributing to one of Canada's premier managed organizations, where you will play a crucial part in elevating the standards of the trucking industry.

Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the security of the network, acting as a Senior Network Engineer and Network Architect.
- Implement scalable solutions within Microsoft Azure Public Cloud and on-premises environments.
- Design, execute, and maintain the organization's network architecture for optimal performance, security, and scalability.
- Oversee a small Security Operations Center (SOC) and prefer experience with Splunk.
- Collaborate with reliability teams to ensure seamless transitions from development to production.
- Lead network project planning and execution, providing technical guidance to the team.
- Design and manage complex network solutions to support operational needs.
- Safeguard systems and networks against security breaches and vulnerabilities.
- Conduct regular performance monitoring and optimization of the network.
- Mentor junior engineers to enhance team skills and capabilities.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies for network improvement.
- Maintain comprehensive network documentation for compliance and reference.
- Possess in-depth knowledge of networking protocols and technologies.
- Conduct network security assessments and recommend remediation strategies.
- Design and maintain security controls for network infrastructure.
- Experience with public cloud solutions (Azure, AWS, GCP) is essential.
- Utilize industry-standard network tools for monitoring and management.
- Demonstrate scripting proficiency in languages such as Python, GO, or PowerShell.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills are vital.
- Experience with Agile methodologies is preferred.
Qualifications
- 4+ years in network architecture design or solution engineering.
- 2+ years in cloud infrastructure network design or administration.
- 2+ years of scripting or coding experience.
- 8+ years in complex IT architecture environments.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Preferred certifications: CISSP, CCNP, CISM, CISA, CEH, etc.
Essential Skills
- Extensive experience in network architecture.
- Proficiency with FortiGate/Fortinet Firewalls and Cisco Routers/Switches.
- Strong leadership capabilities.
