Facilities Groundskeeper

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Grounds Keeper to join our team at BGIS. As a Grounds Keeper, you will be responsible for performing all phases of grounds maintenance, including snow removal, in a team environment and independently.

Key Responsibilities

• Care and maintenance of gardens and turf areas, including watering and pruning of shrubs and trees.
• Rehabilitation of landscape areas, including pothole repair and gravel parking lot grading.
• Equipment operation, including skid steer, small loader, and ride-on mower.
• Hand shoveling of snow, sanding entryways, and garbage changing and disposal.

Requirements

• Diploma in Horticulture or qualified Landscape Gardener.
• 3-5 years' experience in a grounds maintenance environment.
• Possess and maintain a valid class 5 driver's license.
• Strong working knowledge of plants and horticulture practices with a desire for continued education.
• Familiarity with snow removal practices, including clearing/scraping, sanding, and hauling.
• Good interpersonal skills, ability to express ideas orally and in writing.
• Ability to operate various large/small equipment, including mowers, weed whips, skid steers, and utility vehicles.
• Ability to stand, kneel, and bend for long periods of time, able to lift 25kg.
• Able to work outside in all weather conditions.
• Able to traverse uneven ground and inclines.
• Ability to perform basic equipment maintenance, including grease, blade changes, and sharpening, belt changes.
• Ability to work independently and with a team.
• Take direction and make decisions independently.
