At Penske, a level III diesel technician serves as an assistant or apprentice mechanic responsible for minor repairs or component replacements, assisting in the removal, replacement, and repair of major components, and undertaking various tasks under the supervision of a senior technician or supervisor.

- Assist in the removal, replacement, or adjustment of components under supervision, including brakes (both pneumatic and hydraulic), fifth wheels, minor electrical repairs, and truck cabin components;
- Conduct all aspects of vehicle preventive maintenance as instructed during training;
- Support other mechanical repairs and replacements as directed by a Technician I or II or by a senior technician or supervisor as part of overall training;
- Perform customer service tasks as required;
- Facilitate vehicle pick-up and delivery;
- Maintain a clean and safe work area;
- Utilize hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, and precision instruments, as well as electric and pneumatic tools like pneumatic wrenches and lifting jacks;
- Execute routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes and battery checks;
- Adjust and replace brakes, tighten bolts and nuts, and reassemble equipment;
- Lift or hoist trucks and heavy parts using hydraulic jacks or winches;
- Undertake additional tasks and projects assigned by the supervisor.
- Preference for 1-2 years of hands-on experience in vehicle or truck repair;
- Training in heavy vehicle mechanics or related fields;
- Proficient in the use of hand tools;
- Possession of a Class 5 driver's license, with a preference for a Class 3 license; however, obtaining a Class 3 license within 6 months of hiring is required;
- Basic computer skills preferred for data entry tasks;
- Regular, predictable, and full attendance is essential for this role;
- The candidate must be willing to travel within the district, work as needed, complete the job application form, and undergo reference checks.

- The associate must be capable of regularly lifting and/or moving loads weighing up to 25 lb, frequently lifting and/or moving loads weighing up to 51 lb, and occasionally lifting and/or moving loads weighing up to 100 lb.
- This position requires the ability to see close up, see far away, have good peripheral vision, perceive depth of field, and adjust focus.
- While performing tasks related to this position, the associate must regularly stand, walk, and sit, talk and listen. He/she must also frequently use hands and arms to touch, feel, manipulate, and reach.
