About the Role

The Health and Safety Manager will provide expert guidance and support to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for employees, contractors, and visitors at PET VALU distribution centers. This role will drive the execution of occupational health and safety initiatives, including policy development, procedure implementation, and training programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Governance
    • Develop and implement health and safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure regulatory compliance and a safe work environment.
    • Provide guidance and support to management and employees on health and safety matters.
  • Risk Management
    • Conduct risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate hazards and reduce the risk of injury or illness.
    • Develop and implement incident investigation and reporting procedures.
  • Training and Development
    • Design and deliver training programs to educate employees on health and safety procedures and best practices.
    • Develop and implement training materials and resources.
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Communicate health and safety information to employees, management, and stakeholders.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure health and safety considerations are integrated into business operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Health and Safety or a related field.
  • CRSP, CHSC, or similar designation an asset.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in a health and safety role, preferably in a retail or logistics environment.
  • Experience with Canadian health and safety regulations.
