About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Structural CAD Designer to join our Project Delivery Group (PDG) at Hatch. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the production of structural 3D models and 2D drawings in accordance with project requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Lead Structural CAD Designer with the delivery of project requirements as they relate to scope, quantities, cost, and schedule.
  • Carry out the preparation of contract drawings, record keeping, and other statistical work.
  • Produce and maintain technical and engineering drawings using 2D and 3D CAD software as required.
  • Perform conceptual layout work.
  • Develop design details.
  • Check drawings prior to release.
  • Ensure coordination with designers/drafters and engineers within the discipline and with other disciplines.
  • Perform clash detection of models with other discipline models.
  • Participate in formal engineering review processes.
  • Verify onsite condition and dimensions relating to existing facilities.
  • Provide technical support to clients and junior designer/drafters.
  • Delegate duties to junior designer/drafters as needed and follow-up to ensure completion of such activities meet quality and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in design coordination with engineers and other disciplines in the development of complete drawing packages.
  • Conduct field investigations produce clear field reports with detailed sketches as required.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Civil/Structural College Advanced Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of five years of structural CAD design/drafting experience.
  • Proficient in the use of 2D and 3D structural CAD design/drawing software packages, including working experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and Civil 3D. Experience with BIM coordination and with Bentley MicroStation are considered assets.
  • Experience within a large project, multi-disciplinary EPCM environment.
  • Knowledge of industry or regulatory standards, regulations, and codes pertinent to structural design in Ontario.
  • Skilled at developing detailed design elements using information from various sources which may include site studies, vendor drawings, catalog data, engineering sketches, reference drawings, and input from other disciplines.
  • Proven ability to maintain positive relationships with clients, team members, and extra-departmental individuals in order to maximize cooperation and deliverables.
