We are proud to assist the Canadian Society of Customs Brokers (CSCB) in their search for a Director of Communications and Member Engagement.

This role is designed to be remote, with occasional travel required across Canada.

The Director of Communications and Member Engagement will spearhead the communication strategies and member support initiatives for the Canadian Society of Customs Brokers (CSCB), catering to both internal and external stakeholders. The position will report to the CSCB office located in Ottawa, ON, with the flexibility to operate under a hybrid work model.

Key Responsibilities

Event and Conference Management:

  1. Collaborate with the CSCB President to formulate and execute an annual events strategy and conference agenda for Board consideration.
  2. Assist in selecting conference/event locations in partnership with the event planner.
  3. Design and develop the conference/event program.
  4. Identify and secure keynote speakers, working closely with speaker agencies.
  5. Engage with government and private sector representatives to secure additional speakers.
  6. Create comprehensive communications and registration materials for conferences/events.
  7. Attract sponsors, exhibitors, and hospitality partners for events.
  8. Oversee and troubleshoot registration processes for conferences/events.
  9. Work with the Director of Advocacy and Knowledge Management to pinpoint industry trends to share with CSCB members through webinars or other formats.
  10. Maintain databases related to CSCB annual conferences and other events to support future planning.
Communications and Member Relations:
  1. Assist the CSCB President in crafting and implementing the organization's communication and social media strategies.
  2. Coordinate daily trade news articles relevant to members, ensuring timely posting on the CSCB website.
  3. Generate and publish engaging content for CSCB's social media platforms.
  4. Develop content for media outreach and arrange interviews for various media channels.
  5. Identify promotional opportunities for the CSCB brand among current members, potential new members, students, and preferred business clients.
  6. Manage recognition awards coordination.
  7. Facilitate collaboration with regional committees.
Qualifications
  1. Proven experience in developing and executing communication strategies, ideally within the supply chain, international trade, or governmental sectors.
  2. Familiarity with social media tools and techniques for audience engagement and attraction.
  3. Experience in organizing large-scale events, whether in-person, virtual, or hybrid.
  4. Ability to work effectively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
  5. Exceptional communication skills and strong interpersonal abilities.
  6. Knowledge of public policy frameworks.
  7. Fluency in both official languages of Canada.
  8. Eligibility to work in Canada: Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work permit.
  9. Preferred active CCS and CTCS certifications.
