Claims Examiner II Job Description

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Claims Examiner II to join our National Insurance Solutions team. As a key member of our team, you will collaborate with partners and clients to resolve property and casualty claims.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and interpret policy wordings and parameters to determine if coverage is in-force and triggered by the loss
  • Manage claims settlement process with independent adjusters; providing recommendations and direction for negotiation and settlement within authority provided by insurers
  • Perform in-house adjustment of claims within authority granted by provincial authorities and insurers
  • Set and maintain accurate loss and expense reserves based upon investigation and/or recommendations; including validating independent adjusters' or insurers' reserve calculations and advising of discrepancies
  • Perform business interruption calculations
  • Provide feedback to Underwriters, Risk Management, and Brokerage teams on claims frequency and physical hazards
  • Maintain and action abeyance files and payment schedules
  • Draft and distribute correspondence to insureds, insurers, third-party claimants, adjusters, and other industry members

Requirements:

  • General Insurance Level 2 License required
  • Working towards your CIP or CAIB preferred
  • RIBO License is an asset
  • Minimum 5 years' experience as an Adjuster or Broker with established experience in Personal and Commercial Lines is required
  • Clear professional communication, both verbal and written
  • Knowledge of MS products including Word, Excel, Outlook
