Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Recreation Facilitator to join our team at the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority. As a Recreation Facilitator, you will provide recreation services to older adults in a long-term care environment, working under the direction of the Coordinator, Resident Services or designate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement recreation programs and activities for older adults, taking into account their physical and cognitive abilities.
  • Provide individual and group recreation services, including arts and crafts, games, and other activities.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure a comprehensive approach to patient care.
  • Conduct assessments to identify the recreation needs and interests of older adults.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community resources to enhance recreation opportunities for older adults.
Requirements
  • Grade 12 equivalent or higher.
  • Recreation Facilitator for Older Adults certificate or a diploma or undergraduate degree in Recreation.
  • 1-2 years of previous work experience with older adults in a long-term care environment, preferred.
  • Certificate in Gerontology, an asset.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of community resources and ability to establish and maintain good interpersonal relationships.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other disciplines and demonstrate professional judgment and initiative.
  • Personal maturity and ability to accept responsibility for actions and decisions.
Working Conditions

Moderate physical effort required.

Security Clearance

A current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check are required as conditions of employment.
