We are seeking a skilled Child & Youth Counsellor to join our Mental Health Crisis Team at Island Health. As a key member of our team, you will provide assessment, treatment, and support to children and youth with psychiatric/mental health concerns.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments, including risk to self/others and mental status.
  • Apply crisis intervention and stabilization principles to ensure the safety and well-being of clients.
  • Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with clients and their families.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices and evidence-based treatments in mental health.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Child/Youth Care or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in mental health assessment and treatment.
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and in high-acuity situations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
