About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Banking Analyst to join our team at Meridian. As a key member of our Business Banking Centre, you will play a critical role in supporting our Relationship Managers in growing the size and profitability of our commercial book while minimizing loan risk and maximizing product penetration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support our Relationship Managers in analyzing financial and account operating data to recommend appropriate courses of action for credit-related matters.
  • Develop a deep understanding of member needs and independently write lending proposals detailing both financial and non-financial parameters important to decision-making.
  • Manage routine account operating issues encountered by our commercial members, anticipating and recognizing their needs, and proactively making product and service recommendations.
  • Liaise with other Meridian staff and outside product/service suppliers to meet the needs of our members.
  • Establish personal goals and action plans to support the Business Banking Centre and Retail branch business objectives, with some community involvement required.
  • Assume higher degrees of accountability and responsibility, leading to assumption of a position as a Relationship Manager, Commercial Services.
  • Monitor and manage the profitability of Meridian's relationship with a member to retain and maintain business.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes within diverse industry sectors and proactively identify opportunities to improve the growth and development of the assigned portfolio by analyzing member needs, trends, and competitor offerings.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education or related job training, with detailed knowledge of financial accounting and lending principles.
  • Good working knowledge of banking systems and business account operating procedures at Meridian.
  • Excellent communication/presentation, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently with confidence and a strong commitment to member service.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and train both on- and off-the-job to improve general business and lending skills.
  • Strong personal commitment to professional development.
  • Demonstrates a high capacity for increasingly complex workloads.
  • Demonstrates organizational values through leadership and personal behaviors.
