LHSC serves as the provincial hub for the Southwestern Ontario Stroke Network (SWOSN), tasked by the Ontario Government Ministry of Health to ensure optimal stroke care practices across various institutions. The SWOSN encompasses a regional stroke center, multiple district stroke centers, and numerous community stroke care providers, all working collaboratively to enhance stroke care delivery.
Role Responsibilities
The Manager of SWOSN is accountable for overseeing the entire stroke care continuum, ensuring that all District Stroke Centers operate effectively within the guidelines set forth by the Ministry of Health. This leadership position requires the development and maintenance of strong collaborative relationships with regional systems, stroke centers, and community partners. The manager will champion a systems-based approach to stroke care, focusing on evidence-based practices to reduce variability and improve patient outcomes.
The incumbent will liaise with the Accreditation Canada-Stroke DistinctionTM team to uphold Stroke DistinctionTM status across the region, engaging with facilities that have yet to achieve this recognition and guiding them on their journey. The manager will be responsible for formulating and executing the SWOSN's strategic workplans in alignment with CorHealth's Action Plan, ensuring timely implementation and monitoring of programs aimed at enhancing stroke care.
Reporting to the Director of Clinical Neurological Sciences & Southwestern Ontario Stroke Network, the Manager will direct, control, and evaluate departmental services, translating program leadership decisions into actionable strategies. This role requires effective relationship management with both internal and external stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes, while ensuring alignment with the organization's mission, vision, and values.

Educational Background

- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of progressive leadership experience in a healthcare setting, ideally within an academic teaching hospital
- Previous experience in stroke care management is advantageous
- Active membership in the Canadian College of Health Leaders (CCHL) is preferred
