Job Summary

Clean Harbors is seeking a highly skilled Environmental Compliance Manager to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, provincial, and local regulations related to environmental affairs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Regulatory Compliance: Conduct formal and systematic reviews of facilities to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Problem Identification and Resolution: Identify problems and recommend corrections; prioritize and follow-up on corrections regarding areas of non-compliance or potential non-compliance.
  • Communication and Liaison: Advise corporate and facility management regarding procedural and operational measures to be taken to correct or minimize non-compliant activities regarding environmental regulations.
  • Permitting and Reporting: Apply for environmental permits and maintain a schedule for renewals, reporting, and provisions of all environmentally related permits.
  • Training and Development: Prepare and provide environmental-related training.
  • Facility Inspections: Coordinate and accompany regulatory personnel during all facility inspections. Coordinate environmental audits of facilities by customers.
  • Regulatory Affairs: Act as a liaison with Agency regulators and negotiate for terms favorable to the organization regarding legal agreements, permit conditions, and proposed regulations.
  • Incident Response: Respond to significant accidents, incidents, and complaints and provide guidance to operational teams.
  • Regulatory Monitoring: Monitor regulatory changes for the purpose of insuring compliance with upcoming changes in federal, state, and local rules and regulations.
  • Customer and Sales Support: Provide guidance to sales, field personnel, and customers concerning federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Audit and Compliance: Perform audits of external facilities to ensure they are properly permitted for use and operating in compliance.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in environmental science or related field.
  • Experience: 2+ years of environmental compliance experience.
  • Skills: Excellent communication, writing, and presentation skills; excellent organizational skills.
