Truck & Transport Mechanic Apprentice - Level 1

Job Summary:

This is an exciting opportunity to join the City of Brandon's team as a Truck & Transport Mechanic Apprentice - Level 1. As a key member of our fleet maintenance team, you will be responsible for learning and assisting in the diagnosis and repair of light and heavy vehicles and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the diagnosis and repair of vehicles and equipment under the supervision of a Red Seal Journeyperson
  • Participate in on-the-job training and classroom sessions to develop skills and knowledge
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of safety procedures and protocols
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve fleet maintenance goals

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Class 5 driver's license (obtain Class 3 with air endorsement within 6 months)
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English (verbal and written)
  • Strong teamwork and problem-solving skills
