Echocardiography Specialist

A Registered Echocardiography Sonographer plays a crucial role in conducting comprehensive and precise ultrasound assessments of the heart and its associated structures for both inpatients and outpatients. This is done in alignment with the professional standards set forth by the American Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers and the Canadian Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers. The role requires proficiency in assisting with transesophageal echocardiograms, stress echocardiograms, pericardiocentesis, and contrast studies.
Educational Requirements:
• Completion of an accredited Echo Sonographer Program, including a clinical component - essential
• Successful passage of the echocardiography and cardiac ultrasound physics examinations from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers - essential
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification - essential
• Active membership in good standing with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and the Canadian Association of Registered Diagnostic Ultrasound Professionals
Professional Experience:
• 1-3 years of experience in the role of a Registered Echocardiography Technologist
Required Competencies:
• Proven ability to communicate effectively and possess strong interpersonal skills
• Respect for and eagerness to learn from the expertise of other healthcare professionals
• Strong problem-solving capabilities, critical thinking, and organizational skills
• Commitment to personal and professional development for oneself and others
Additional Information:
• Must have access to reliable transportation
Candidates should have at least a Grade 12 education or equivalent and demonstrate a history of excellence in the workplace through a commitment to strong job performance and attendance.
