CareRx is a leading provider of specialty pharmacy services to seniors in Canada. We serve over 96,000 residents in more than 1,600 seniors and other communities, including long-term care homes, retirement homes, assisted living facilities, and group homes.

We take an active role in working with our home operator partners to promote resident health, staff education, and medication system quality and efficiency.

Job Summary:

The Registered Pharmacy Technician will work under the general direction of the Pharmacy Manager and Production Team Lead to ensure accurate dispensing of prescriptions. The role requires compliance with provincial and federal laws, standards, and regulations governing pharmacy practice.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the pharmacy team to ensure medication orders are dispensed accurately, safely, and timely.
  • Complete daily tasks in accordance with established workplace policies and procedures.
  • Consult with the pharmacy management team on unresolved issues.
  • Provide exceptional customer care to LTC homes and retirement communities serviced by CareRx Pharmacy.
  • Communicate with the resident care team while maintaining professionalism.
  • Participate in the after-hours on-call rotation/schedule if necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and organized resident health records.
  • Follow provincial and federal laws, standards, and regulations governing pharmacy practice.
  • Assist in maintaining and monitoring pharmacy inventory.
  • Participate in training and support for newly hired and existing pharmacy team members.
  • Participate in ongoing continuing education.
  • Prepare and compound medications when required.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Requirements:

  • Registered and in good standing with the British Columbia College of Pharmacists (RPhT).
  • Proven ability to foster strong partnerships with other healthcare team members.
  • Effective organization, planning, and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated high level of fluency in both written and spoken English.
  • Ability to work independently and as an effective team member in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Motivated to achieve results that reflect a high standard of quality.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Kroll and Point Click Care (PCC).
  • Experience with Med e-care.
  • Experience with PACMed/PACVision.
  • Knowledgeable with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Understanding of provincial regulations governing LTC homes and Retirement Communities.
