Job Title: Unit Clerk

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Unit Clerk to join our team at the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority. As a Unit Clerk, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Receive and direct patients to the appropriate area of the clinic/unit
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of documentation
  • Act as a communication link for the unit, answering phone calls and relaying messages
  • Obtain and maintain patient charts, transcribe physicians' orders, and schedule appointments/tests
  • Perform various tasks to ensure the care and comfort of patients
  • Prepare payroll information and maintain clinic/unit supplies
  • Compile statistical information and perform other miscellaneous duties as required
Requirements:
  • Previous related work experience preferred
  • Current hospital-based information systems/programs; scheduling systems/programs preferred
  • Complete high school education, Manitoba standards
  • Successful completion of a recognized Unit Clerk training program required
  • Medical terminology (75% pass mark) required
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Typing/keyboarding skills minimum 40 wpm required
  • Excellent command of the English language (both oral and written)
  • Ability to organize, manage time, and prioritize workload
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to recognize and pursue self-development opportunities
  • Ability to respond to a variety of simultaneous demands
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to function effectively in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
