Unit Clerk

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Unit Clerk to join our team at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg.
Job Summary:The Unit Clerk will be responsible for providing administrative support to the healthcare team, ensuring accurate and timely documentation, and maintaining a high level of patient care.
Key Responsibilities:- Receiving patients to the clinic/unit and ensuring accurate documentation
- Acting as a communication link for the unit, answering phone calls and relaying messages
- Obtaining and maintaining patient charts, transcribing physicians' orders, and scheduling appointments/tests
- Performing various tasks for patient care and comfort, including preparing payroll information and maintaining clinic/unit supplies
- Entering patient data into applicable information systems and following all HSC policy and procedures
- Previous related work experience preferred
- Current hospital-based information systems/programs; scheduling systems/programs preferred
- Complete high school education, Manitoba standards
- Successful completion of a recognized Unit Clerk training program required
- Medical terminology (75% pass mark) required
- Typing/keyboarding skills minimum 40 wpm required
- Excellent command of the English language (both oral and written)
- Ability to organize, manage time, and prioritize workload
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team and seek assistance as necessary
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to recognize and pursue self-development opportunities
- Ability to respond to a variety of simultaneous demands
- Ability to operate information technology equipment as required
