We are on the lookout for a Senior Energy Analyst to become a vital part of our team. This role presents a unique opportunity to engage with some of the most forward-thinking and eco-friendly building initiatives across the country.
The Senior Energy Analyst will play a crucial role in the creation and evaluation of comprehensive energy models for entire buildings, alongside conducting various energy assessments as needed. The ideal candidate will possess a proactive mindset, a thirst for knowledge, and a keen interest in understanding high-performance building practices in Canada.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe primary duties include, but are not limited to:
- Creating detailed energy simulations for new construction projects aimed at optimizing design, ensuring compliance with rating systems and energy codes, managing energy budgets, and securing energy efficiency incentives.
- Producing and reviewing high-quality energy modeling reports for clients, effectively communicating findings and recommendations.
- Participating in project coordination meetings and collaborating with various stakeholders, including mechanical and electrical engineers, architects, developers, and building owners, to gather necessary information.
- Conducting technical analyses and feasibility assessments to support energy efficiency initiatives and renewable energy technologies.
- Performing internal quality assurance reviews of project deliverables.
- Facilitating integrated design workshops to assess building enhancements in real-time.
- Analyzing post-construction energy usage data and comparing it with predictive models.
- Undertaking any additional responsibilities as assigned to achieve company goals.
- 2 to 6 years of experience in building energy simulation within a consulting environment.
- A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, architecture/building science, or a closely related discipline.
- Active pursuit of professional designations such as P.Eng or CET. Interest in obtaining BEMP certification is a plus.
- LEED GA accreditation is advantageous (LEED AP BD+C preferred).
- Proficiency in energy simulation software, particularly Energy Plus/Open Studio and eQuest. Experience with energy audits and Retscreen software is beneficial.
- Familiarity with reviewing construction documents and specifications. Experience with AutoCAD and Revit is a plus.
- Competence in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and organizational abilities.
- Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Ability to manage deadlines and adapt to shifting priorities.
- A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for travel may be required.
