Position Overview

This role is integral to the optical component engineering team, focusing on supplier quality assurance. As a vital contributor within a dynamic, multi-disciplinary environment, your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with Supply Chain, Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE), and Research & Development (R&D) to evaluate and endorse specifications for custom optical components tailored for new product initiatives, taking into account supplier process capabilities, Design for Manufacturing (DFM), and Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA).
  • Fostering proactive interactions to enhance predictability and comprehensive process visibility with suppliers.
  • Coordinating First Article Inspections (FAIs) as necessary and collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop part qualification strategies.
  • Assessing alternative suppliers as required and verifying their compliance with capability, specifications, and reliability standards.
  • Engaging with suppliers and R&D to evaluate supplier process capabilities.
  • Overseeing Supplier Product Change Notifications by assessing the associated risks and advising R&D and Operations through a product-specific Change Control Board.
  • Working alongside cross-functional and cross-regional teams to promote proactive supplier engagement, enhance predictability, address component-related challenges and customer returns, initiate supplier failure analyses, and implement corrective and preventive measures.

Qualifications

  • Experience in supplier management combined with expertise in optical component design.
  • A Master's degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related discipline.
  • In-depth knowledge of Active Optics, Passive Optics, Fiber Optics, and Optical Interconnects design and applications.
  • Proficient in problem-solving methodologies.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Familiarity with Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) methodologies; experience in automotive quality management is advantageous.
  • A highly motivated, enthusiastic problem solver with a keen interest in continuous learning.
