Position Overview

The role of the Parts Service Advisor is crucial in ensuring the seamless procurement and supply of essential parts, components, materials, and consumables necessary for ongoing equipment repairs. This position involves collaborating with preferred suppliers, monitoring parts delivery, organizing inventory, and managing the return of any damaged or incorrect items.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Order parts, verify orders, and oversee delivery timelines
  • Receive and categorize all shop-related items, ensuring immediate distribution or organized storage until needed
  • Monitor the status of outstanding orders and back orders, following up as required
  • Inspect all received parts for damage, quality, and accuracy
  • Manage the return and reordering of any damaged or incorrect parts
  • Collect parts from vendors as needed
  • Track and manage vendor returns, including warranty items
  • Research alternative supply options, including both new and used parts
  • Assist the shop with parts-related inquiries and research
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Completion of post-secondary education
  • Previous experience in parts handling is advantageous
  • Experience in clerical or warehouse settings is preferred
  • Familiarity with heavy equipment shop environments is a plus
  • Strong computer proficiency and willingness to learn new software
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to comprehend basic repair instructions and work orders
  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities; adapts well to a dynamic work environment
  • Friendly and personable demeanor with a strong customer service focus
  • Capability to work effectively in both a climate-controlled office and shop setting
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods based on daily tasks
  • Proficient in using standard office equipment (e.g., computer, copier, scanner)
  • May require moderate physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, or lifting up to 50lbs
