Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced IT Solutions Analyst to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for defining and documenting functional requirements, data requirements, and operational constraints related to potential information technology solutions. They will also be responsible for analyzing alternative solutions, identifying and estimating life-cycle costs, and making effective recommendations to clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct Studies and Analysis
    • Assist users in defining and documenting functional requirements, data requirements, and operational constraints related to potential information technology solutions.
    • Analyze alternative solutions by identifying and estimating life-cycle costs.
    • Make effective recommendations to clients to change their business processes and work methods in order to use information technology more effectively.
  • Design, Development, and Implementation
    • Conduct design, development, and implementation activities for simple to medium-complex systems or databases.
    • Construct system models or data models at the conceptual level, defining functional components, processes, data entities, and relationships with other systems or databases.
    • Review models with users and other information-technology departments.
  • Maintenance and Support
    • Maintain simple to complex systems or databases.
    • Advise and assist users concerning the production use of systems, products, or databases.
    • Implement and document enhancements and changes to meet new user needs.
  • Training and Education
    • Supply training and education for simple to complex products, systems, or databases.
    • Prepare user instructions in the form of written documentation (manuals and on-line user aids) and demonstrate usage.
  • Technical Notes and Guidelines
    • Supply technical notes and guidelines on selection, acquisition, migration, usage, and application of all but the most complex information technology products and related services.
  • Leadership and Guidance
    • Assign work to staff assisting in the work and schedule their activities.
    • Provide guidance in techniques and methods of programming, design, and documentation.
    • Monitor the quality of work performed.

Requirements

  • Education
    • Requires a knowledge of design concepts related to computing equipment and software, in order to provide computerized solutions to varying Company requirements.
    • Requires a knowledge of design concepts related to electrical design theory in order to provide guidance and support when solving complex IT problems related to design tools.
    • Requires knowledge of Lines Relocation Costing procedures.
    • Requires a knowledge of computer science including the principles and applications of computing equipment, methods, systems analysis and design, data management, work simplification, communications, and computer programming to enable creative logical reasoning in regard to the design and effective use of systems and databases, computer programming activities, and related matters.
    • Requires good verbal and written communications skills, to coordinate the needs of clients, suppliers, and staff.
  • Experience
    • Requires experience to be able to define users' information-technology requirements for most complex problems and to design, develop, acquire, and implement the required systems, databases, and information technology products and related services.
    • Requires experience to understand new and existing information processing concepts, computer and communications equipment, and software.
    • Requires experience to understand the clients' organizations and the operational characteristics and functions of the application systems, databases, products, computers, communications, and associated equipment serviced.
    • Requires experience using SAP Sales and Distribution costing module.
    • Requires experience in producing designs for construction by Dx Lines.
    • Requires knowledge of Hydro One engineering standards used in DX construction designs.
    • Requires experience using SAP, and Autodesk Utility Design software.
