Position Summary:

The Senior IT Infrastructure Specialist will play a crucial role in the design, planning, installation, and configuration of robust server infrastructures. This position demands expertise in managing both on-premises and cloud-based systems, with a strong emphasis on security and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Duties:

  • Analyze the relationship between infrastructure systems and business applications to meet organizational needs.
  • Provide advanced support and troubleshooting, ensuring comprehensive resolution and root cause analysis in collaboration with various teams.
  • Work alongside application teams to monitor critical systems, ensuring compliance with service level agreements and proactive issue resolution.
  • Design and implement automation solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of data center hardware and software, including participation in on-call support rotations.
  • Offer technical mentorship and support to team members and managed service partners as needed.
  • Conduct audits of hardware and software to ensure adherence to established standards and policies.
  • Generate ad-hoc reports and perform necessary system administration tasks.

Future Development:

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to expand our cloud infrastructure capabilities.
  • Engage with project and development teams to evaluate technology and hosting needs for critical systems.
  • Research and analyze infrastructure technologies to propose and implement effective solutions.
  • Utilize technical expertise to ensure the delivery of scalable and secure infrastructure resources.
  • Assist in planning for system upgrades nearing end-of-life.
  • Implement cloud backup strategies that align with disaster recovery policies.
  • Establish a comprehensive alerting framework and update management for cloud components.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, diagrams, and processes for all implementations and changes.
  • Support the adoption of an Infrastructure-as-Code approach for cloud management.

Qualifications:

  • A degree or diploma in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Over 5 years of experience with both cloud and on-premises infrastructure platforms.
  • Proven ability to work independently, lead projects, and balance business requirements with technical limitations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • A collaborative team player with a willingness to explore new technologies and drive efficiency.
  • Strong understanding of computer and enterprise security principles.
  • Demonstrated analytical and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Experience with Nutanix hardware is a plus.
  • Relevant certifications in cloud and security technologies are advantageous.
