Cancer Control Research Methodologist
BC Cancer
The Cancer Control Research Methodologist operates under the guidance of the Principal Investigator, focusing on the design, execution, analysis, and interpretation of research initiatives aimed at improving cancer control strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals and stakeholders to implement epidemiologic, clinical, and health services research activities, adhering to established policies and professional standards.
- Initiate new research projects related to cancer control by reviewing existing literature, formulating research methodologies, addressing data challenges, and selecting appropriate statistical techniques.
- Manage cancer control research initiatives by preparing ethics submissions, recruiting participants, gathering data, processing large datasets, performing data analyses, and effectively communicating findings to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and manuscripts detailing the design, outcomes, and interpretations of research studies for dissemination to relevant parties.
- Write grant proposals and progress reports for funding organizations.
Qualifications:
- A Master's Degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, Statistics, Biostatistics, or a related field.
- At least one to two years of relevant experience in a research setting focused on population health.
Desired Skills:
- Proficient understanding of population health research issues and the application of epidemiologic and statistical methods in cancer control.
- Familiarity with study design, data collection, and analytical techniques.
- Ability to conduct advanced data manipulation and analysis using statistical software.
- Knowledge of cancer control frameworks and health systems.
- Strong communication skills with a focus on building effective working relationships.
- Capacity to work collaboratively within a team while also demonstrating independence.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a knack for presenting complex information clearly.
- Strong organizational skills to develop project timelines and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
