Medical Laboratory Technologist Job Description

At William Osler Health System, we are committed to providing a safe and supportive healthcare network for our patients and staff. As a Medical Laboratory Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accession and process biological specimens for analysis
  • Conduct grossing and embedding of tissue samples
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including microtomes and IHC stainers
  • Prepare and stain slides for microscopic analysis
  • Correlate cut slides to tissue blocks and maintain accurate records
Requirements:
  • Medical Laboratory Technologist certification from the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS)
  • Minimum five years of recent experience in general histology in a hospital setting
  • Immunohistochemistry experience is preferred
  • Current registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO) in good standing
