Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Shift Leader to join our team at Combine Cafe & Bar, a vibrant dining experience located in the heart of Surrey's City Centre. As a Shift Leader, you will be responsible for leading our Front of House operations, including training, inventory, scheduling, and supervision of all Front of House staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that excellent levels of service are being delivered to our guests during service.
  • Ensure that all equipment used is in safe working order, checked regularly, and any faults are reported to management.
  • Action guest concerns and compliments by praising staff and resolving complaints in a timely manner.
  • Comply with all Century Group's policies and procedures and rules and regulations.
  • Shift management in support of the management team.
  • Running food and performing table-side service during busy periods to support your serving team.
  • Assist the Restaurant Manager, Cafe Manager, or Assistant Manager with all aspects of restaurant operations.
  • Other duties as required.
  • Ensure adherence to food safety regulations, hygiene, and cleanliness as per Provincial and local standards.
  • Perform monthly inventory in a timely manner with price extensions.
  • Accountable and responsible for labor forecasting and scheduling based on business levels.
  • Ensure that FOH labor cost is on the line to the budget.
  • Ensure that proper closing procedures are followed.
  • Ensure that fire plan knowledge and WHMIS training is kept up to date.
  • Comply with WCB rules and regulations and maintain awareness of any/all other relevant laws and statutes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and directed by Restaurant Manager/Cafe Manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Minimum five years supervisory experience in a full-service restaurant and bar
  • Eligible to work in Canada

Skills and Abilities

  • Superior communication skills, including the ability to retain, coach, mentor, and develop staff
  • Ability to work with others in a fast-paced customer service-oriented environment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multi-task and coordinate multiple functions and activities
  • Ability to effectively use business software
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends as business dictates
