As a Superintendent in our BC Region office, you will play a crucial role in our operations:

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the project manager to implement PCL's safety protocols, ensuring these are integrated into all site plans and procedures while adhering to safety and documentation standards.
  • Oversee, guide, coach, and mentor the project team, including both direct and indirect reports.
  • Maintain effective communication with internal teams and subcontractors, ensuring that performance, productivity, quality, and safety standards are consistently met.
  • Work closely with the construction/project manager and project team to proactively address potential issues, work disruptions, and scheduling conflicts.
  • Act as a liaison between field engineers, estimators, and subcontractors to ensure compliance with project drawings and specifications.
  • Engage with clients, other contractors, labor relations, and site representatives to foster strong working relationships.
  • Visualize the entire project, develop comprehensive project schedules, identify critical paths, and foresee constructability challenges.
  • Create and implement the Project Execution Plan (PEP) along with resource-loaded three-week lookahead schedules.
  • Establish, maintain, and execute the project plan and schedule, ensuring adherence to budgetary and quality standards.
  • Review and comprehend contracts and subcontracts, developing strategies to mitigate risks and maximize opportunities to meet financial objectives.
  • Manage project administration correspondence and comply with all documentation requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong, customer-focused relationships with all stakeholders involved.
Required Qualifications
  • Journeyman certificate or a degree in a relevant field; NCSO designation required (IND); enrollment in the Gold Seal program (CDN) preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in field supervision is preferred.
  • Proven experience in supervising a construction workforce.
  • Extensive knowledge of the construction industry, including materials, specifications, and operational procedures.
  • Ability to understand project scope and apply intermediate to complex engineering principles in construction plans and schedules.
  • Proficient in utilizing scheduling software to develop logical plans.
  • Capability to coordinate multiple aspects of a construction project, including scheduling and monitoring work from internal teams and trade contractors.
  • Strong understanding of productivity rates, Labor Cost Reports (LCRs), and the ability to interpret financial reports.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of contract language, with the ability to identify risks and leverage opportunities.
  • In-depth understanding of safety and environmental regulations and procedures.
  • Ability to lead effective site meetings with clients, consultants, trades, and internal staff; skilled in presenting at client meetings.
  • Demonstrated skills in conflict resolution, problem-solving, and professional judgment.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and internal operational systems.
