Young Adult Life Skills Coach (Full Time)
($31.51 per hour)
This role requires individuals with comprehensive knowledge of health and social factors affecting vulnerable populations. The Life Skills Coach will provide supervision, guidance, and support to young adults participating in the My Way Program. The Coach is expected to facilitate opportunities for young adults to enhance their skills and demonstrate their capabilities in areas such as independent living, job readiness, job searching, and social development. This program is designed to assist individuals aged 19-29 in their transition to adulthood by providing ongoing support and developing independent living situations. The program offers practical life skills training essential for self-sufficiency as an adult. The successful candidate will report directly to the Team Leader.
Qualifications for the Successful Candidate:
- Diploma in Social Services or related post-secondary education and/or relevant experience;
- Willingness and ability to work with at-risk adults;
- Knowledge of community services, resources, and systems;
- Ability to teach and model effective techniques and interventions;
- Experience working with Indigenous groups/communities in a cultural context;
- Certifications: First Aid, Class 4 Driver's License, Crisis Prevention Intervention, Suicide Intervention, Food Safe;
- Ability to pass a criminal record check.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Providing direct support to clients;
- Assisting in the facilitation of job readiness, life skills, and certificate training;
- Coordinating with internal and external community resources;
- Supporting and advocating for client-centered issues;
- Performing other duties as required.
