POSITION SUMMARY:
The HR Coordinator at Silgan Containers plays a vital role in supporting the daily human resources and administrative functions at our facility. This position is responsible for overseeing the implementation of HR policies, procedures, and programs, with a focus on fostering a safe and productive work environment. The HR Coordinator will initiate and drive HR initiatives that cultivate a high-performance culture centered around employee engagement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Human Resources Development
- Contributes to the design and management of HR programs, procedures, and guidelines that align with the strategic objectives of the HR Department.
- Engages in setting departmental goals and objectives.
- Participates in team meetings and relevant seminars.
HR Information Systems Management
- Handles payroll processing for hourly employees, ensuring accuracy in timecard management and compliance with payroll regulations.
- Maintains the HR management system, generating necessary reports to support departmental functions.
- Maximizes the use of HR software to enhance operational efficiency.
- Collaborates with finance to ensure payroll data integrity.
- Works with leadership to track and analyze key HR metrics.
Training and Development
- Facilitates the use of the Learning Management System (LMS) for employee training, including safety and HR-related programs.
- Monitors compliance with training requirements.
- Assesses ongoing training needs for staff development.
- Assists in selecting external training providers when necessary.
- Distributes educational materials and maintains training records.
Recruitment and Employment
- Oversees the recruitment process for various positions, ensuring effective hiring practices.
- Conducts interviews and participates in selection committees.
- Ensures staffing needs are met in alignment with operational requirements.
Employee Relations
- Assists in formulating HR policies related to employee relations and workplace safety.
- Communicates HR policies and procedures to management and staff.
- Promotes initiatives that enhance employee engagement and morale.
- Advises on employee relations matters and conducts investigations as needed.
Safety and Compliance
- Maintains safety manuals and ensures compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Facilitates safety training and meetings, ensuring all staff are informed and engaged.
Benefits Administration
- Manages daily benefits administration and assists employees with inquiries.
- Coordinates benefits enrollment and reviews claims.
Administrative Support
- Provides front office support, including managing communications and documentation.
- Ensures efficient operation of office supplies and administrative tasks.
Legal Compliance
- Ensures adherence to labor laws and reporting requirements.
- Protects the interests of both employees and the organization.
Organizational Development
- Supports initiatives related to workforce development and employee feedback.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field; HR Certification.
EXPERIENCE:
Required: Minimum of 3 years in HR roles.
Preferred: 5+ years in HR leadership positions.
SKILLS:
Required: Bilingual (English/French), knowledge of employment laws, proficiency in Microsoft Office, strong communication skills, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
