Position Overview:
Reporting to the Person Responsible for the Assignment of Authority (PRAA), the Deputy PRAA (D/PRAA) and Site Lead Training Coordinator will facilitate the execution of L3Harris Technologies' Maintenance and Manufacturing Process manual at the Cold Lake Site, concentrating on two essential areas:
- Assisting the PRAA in tracking the progress of aircraft technicians towards achieving airworthiness authorizations and qualifications.
- Creating and overseeing the technical mentorship and training strategies for each aircraft technician.
Key Responsibilities:
Shared duties for both the D/PRAA and Site Training Coordinator roles include:
- Executing tasks as assigned by the PRAA.
- Maintaining records of air technicians' authorizations and qualifications.
- Leading working groups and managing teams effectively.
- Participating in meetings and working groups as directed by senior management.
- Collaborating with the PRAA as a supportive team member.
- Ensuring strict adherence to safety policies and procedures.
- Assisting in the preparation of technical and administrative reports as necessary.
- Documenting non-conformities in accordance with established protocols.
- Accurately drafting and completing training, qualification, and authorization reports.
- Maintaining comprehensive knowledge of technical training standards relevant to our Technical Orders.
As the D/PRAA, the successful candidate will assist the PRAA in the following functions:
- Confirming the completion of training and recommendations from mentors and technical assessors for authorization assignments.
- Monitoring annual evaluations and re-evaluations of individual airworthiness authority with their supervisors.
- Maintaining personnel records and associated entries in the relevant systems.
- Acting as the Cold Lake site aircraft technician Stamp Coordinator, issuing or collecting stamps as directed.
- Recommending apprenticeship programs based on resume assessments of prospective candidates.
- Supporting the PRAA with responsibilities and authority applicable to the Cold Lake site.
- Identifying issues or service difficulties during maintenance and recommending potential solutions.
- Monitoring internal and external audit observations and participating in corrective action plans.
- Validating recommendations for authorization of trained and competent individuals for key airworthiness functions.
- In the absence of the PRAA, performing their duties with necessary limitations.
- Participating in internal audits to assess competency and organizational capability.
- Providing guidance to individuals regarding their responsibilities associated with received authorizations.
L3Harris Technologies emphasizes a training and development program that aligns staff development with business objectives. Based on the assessment of airworthiness training needs, the site PRAA will validate requirements and direct training and mentorship programs. This program consists of formal and informal courses and on-the-job training (OJT), both internally and externally, ensuring employees in airworthiness management roles receive necessary training prior to obtaining authorization.
Training Coordinator Duties:
- Tracking the completion and processing of candidates' security clearance applications.
- Developing training and mentorship programs based on the new hire's education and experience to ensure timely course completion and authorization.
- Creating training and mentorship programs for technicians to ensure progression towards Maintenance Release of Aircraft.
- Assessing candidates for requested authorizations and developing training plans based on operational needs.
- Liaising with the Training Cell for continuous improvement of training programs.
- Conducting qualification reviews and reporting results to supervisors.
- Leading a team of technical mentors and assessors to ensure effective employee development.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Eligibility to meet PRAA criteria as detailed in the Maintenance and Manufacturing Process Manual.
- Experience and knowledge of applicable airworthiness rules and standards.
- Experience in technical airworthiness authority roles.
- On-type certification on military or civilian aircraft.
- 6 years of aircraft experience preferred.
- College diploma in aeronautics with ACA authorization preferred.
- Continuous improvement training (e.g., Yellow or Green belt) preferred.
- Knowledge of L3Harris Maintenance and Manufacturing Process Manuals preferred.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and adaptability to new software systems.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Eligibility for registration with the Controlled Goods Program.
- Ability to obtain and maintain government security clearance.
- Compliance with U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
