Educational Assistant Position

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Educational Assistant to join our team at Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board. As an Educational Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with diverse learning needs, promoting inclusive education, and fostering a positive learning environment.
Job Summary:The successful candidate will provide supportive interventions for students who exhibit self-regulation, social, emotional, physical, and/or medical needs. This will involve working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of professionals to develop and implement individualized support plans, promoting student engagement, and enhancing their overall well-being.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide individualized support to students with diverse learning needs, including those with physical, emotional, or behavioral challenges.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to develop and implement individualized support plans.
- Assist students with daily living skills, such as dressing, feeding, and toileting.
- Support students with physical needs, including lifting, transferring, and positioning.
- Provide emotional support and guidance to students, promoting their social and emotional well-being.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to ensure seamless support and collaboration.
- Diploma in Educational Assistant, Child and Youth Worker, Developmental Services Worker, or Social Service Worker.
- Training in one or more areas, such as Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Autism Spectrum Disorder, assistive technology, sign language, First Aid, and CPR.
- Cultural and ability sensitivity, related experience supporting individuals with special needs.
