Job Title: Floor Covering Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Floor Covering Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our installation team, you will be responsible for installing various types of floor coverings, including resilient flooring and hardwood flooring.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Inspect and Measure Surfaces: Inspect surfaces to be covered and measure them accurately to ensure a proper fit.
  • Prepare Flooring Plans: Prepare detailed flooring plans and schedules to ensure efficient installation.
  • Install Floor Coverings: Install resilient flooring and hardwood flooring, including measuring, cutting, and fastening underlay and underpadding.
  • Inspect and Repair: Inspect installed floor coverings and repair any damage or defects.
  • Estimate Costs and Materials: Estimate costs and materials required for each project.
  • Prepare Floors for Installation: Prepare floors for installation by removing existing floor coverings and contaminants.
Requirements:
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Experience: 7 months to less than 1 year of experience in floor covering installation.
  • Physical Demands: Physically demanding, requiring bending, crouching, and kneeling.
  • Personal Suitability: Client focus, efficient interpersonal skills, organized, and team player.

  • Credential Recognition: Supports newcomers and/or refugees with foreign credential recognition.

  • Mentorship and Coaching: Offers mentorship, coaching, and/or networking opportunities for Indigenous workers.

  • Hiring Policies: Applies hiring policies that discourage discrimination against members of visible minorities.
  • Mentorship Programs: Offers mentorship programs that pair members of visible minorities with experienced employees.
