POSITION TITLE: Bed Allocator
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Manager of Patient Flow & Scheduling, the Bed Allocator serves as a crucial link between the admitting and receiving departments. This role is essential for optimizing room allocation in accordance with patient care needs.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate room assignments based on patient requirements and hospital protocols.
- Maintain effective communication with healthcare teams to ensure seamless patient transitions.
- Utilize hospital management software to track bed availability and patient status.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completion of Grade 12 education.
- Possession of a Medical Office Administration certificate (minimum one year).
EXPERIENCE:
- Up to six months of clerical experience in a healthcare environment.
- Familiarity with Meditech software is preferred.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Proficient in keyboarding and computer applications, including Meditech, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to work independently with sound judgment and minimal supervision.
- Strong time management and organizational skills, capable of handling multiple tasks in a dynamic setting.
- Demonstrated initiative and teamwork capabilities.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in an inter-professional environment.
- Capacity to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
