Job Title: Registered Nurse - Oncology

Job Summary:

Mackenzie Health is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Oncology team. As a Registered Nurse in Oncology, you will provide high-quality patient care to individuals with cancer, working collaboratively with the interprofessional care team to deliver holistic, patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care to individuals with cancer, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the interprofessional care team.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, ensuring accurate and timely administration.
  • Monitor and report changes in patient condition to the healthcare team, ensuring prompt intervention and treatment.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to provide education and support to patients and families, promoting health literacy and self-management.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the development and implementation of evidence-based practices.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, adhering to regulatory requirements and organizational policies.

Requirements:

  • Current Certificate of Registration in the General Class with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
  • Canadian Nurses Association Oncology Certification or completed Standardized Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Course in progress or commitment to complete within 3 months of date of hire.
  • Proven clinical experience with patient-focused care, including strong patient assessment, care planning, patient education, and documentation skills.
  • Knowledge of Best Practice Guidelines in management of Central Vascular Access devices, PICC, Port a Cath & Hickman.
  • Experience working with the delivery of blood and Blood Products.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Baccalaureate degree in Nursing from an approved nursing program.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • deSouza certified
  • Recent completion of a physical assessment course.
  • Membership in the Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario (RNAO)/Canadian Nurses Association (CNA).
  • A minimum of 1 year recent nursing experience working as a Registered Nurse in an acute care setting within the past 3 years
  • 2 years experience on an acute oncology unit
  • Ability to speak a second language.
