Job Summary

This position is responsible for processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining specimens for electron microscopy. The successful candidate will perform microscopy, interpretation, and micrography of specimens, and assist with training. The role may involve rotating through different specified job functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process, embed, section, and stain specimens for electron microscopy
  • Perform microscopy, interpretation, and micrography of specimens
  • Assist with training and development of laboratory staff
  • Rotate through different specified job functions as required

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) program or equivalent Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) prior learning assessment program
  • Current registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO) in the appropriate field of practice
  • Minimum of six months to one year of experience, unless clinical placement was conducted in one of EORLA's labs
  • Electron microscopy experience
  • Knowledge of relevant accreditation standards, healthcare regulations, and medical laboratory theory, principles, and practices
  • Understanding of occupational health and safety legislation
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Sound problem-solving and conflict resolution skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three or more years of related electron microscopy experience in a clinical setting
  • Knowledge of pediatric and adult ultrastructural pathology
  • Relevant university degree from a recognized program
  • Bilingualism is considered an asset
