About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Machine Shop Supervisor to join our team at ESS Corp. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our machine shop, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Estimate Costs and Materials: Develop and implement strategies to optimize material usage and reduce waste.
  • Operate CADD and Computer Software Systems: Utilize computer-aided design and other software systems to design and develop new products.
  • Prepare Bids and Reports: Create and submit bids for new projects, as well as prepare production and other reports as required.
  • Recruit and Hire Workers: Identify and recruit skilled workers to join our team, and oversee the onboarding process.
  • Train and Develop Staff: Provide training and development opportunities to ensure that our team members have the skills and knowledge needed to succeed.
  • Coordinate and Schedule Activities: Plan and coordinate the daily activities of our machine shop, ensuring that all tasks are completed on time and to a high standard.
  • Ensure Health and Safety Regulations: Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Oversee Company Operations: Provide leadership and guidance to our team, and make decisions that align with the company's goals and objectives.
  • Requisition Materials and Equipment: Source and procure the materials and equipment needed to support our production activities.
  • Set Up Machines and Equipment: Ensure that all machines and equipment are properly set up and maintained to optimize production efficiency.
  • Supervise Workers and Projects: Provide guidance and support to our team members, and oversee the completion of projects.
  • Use CNC Machines: Operate computer numerical control (CNC) machines to produce high-quality products.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: 5 years or more of experience in a machine shop or similar environment.
  • Language: English.
  • Security and Safety: Criminal record check required.
  • Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, and to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Personal Suitability: Excellent oral and written communication skills, organized, and able to work under pressure.
